Karl is currently serving as Director of Partnerships: Asia and Americas at d.light design and has been with the company since 2014. His responsibilities at d.light include strategic planning, industry outreach, fundraising, business development, and government relations. Prior to joining d.light, Karl served as Director of Operations at BBOXX and was based in both Kenya and Uganda. Karl believes that distributed solar in the developing world has the potential to leapfrog centralized generation powered by fossil fuels. He has dedicated his career to the mission of delivering affordable and reliable clean energy solutions to the two billion people in the developing world that lack access to reliable energy. As co-chair of the GOGLA Policy working group, Karl has contributed towards the development of multiple case studies and industry opinions regarding government involvement in the off-grid energy sector. Karl holds an MBA and MS in Engineering from Stanford and a BA in Finance and Environmental Studies from Washington University in Saint Louis.
