Zubair K M Sadeque, Senior Energy Specialist, is at the Africa Energy Unit of the World Bank currently overseeing the energy sector support of the World Bank in Liberia and Kenya. The energy portfolio of the World Bank in these countries include a number of investment projects both in grid and off-grid access as well as technical assistance supports. Before moving to the Africa Energy Unit in the Headquarters, Zubair was based in Bangladesh leading the World Bank’s rural electrification program there, which included a combination of grid and off-grid projects including the flagship Solar Home Systems (SHS) program. The off-grid project also included support for mini-grid, solar irrigation pumps, and improved cookstoves. Mr. Sadeque holds an MS and an MBA degree and he obtained his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2008.
